Don't think I'm a good person? SCREW YOU!

Recently, I had the displeasure of peeking in on the Facebook page of one of the religious folks who's been e-mailing us. Here is what I found:

I have three responses to this:

  • You don't think my friends and I are good people? Screw you. You don't even know us. We are good people. In fact, I think judging people you don't even know makes you a bad person. So there.
  • You're going to start a prayer chain to "Take down the billboard"? Haahhahahahahahah! Go ahead, I'm sure that will be real effective. Here's a prediction for you: I predict that in 1 month, it will come down. I'm a psychic!!!
  • Why do you want your own billboard? The whole state is plastered with them already. There's even a religious billboard directly under ours! This wasn't some intentional thing, it's just a matter of statistics. The damned religious ads are EVERYWHERE. Where could we put a sign that wasn't close to something religious? Yeah, you're really being persecuted.

In short, if you're offended by me saying that my friends and I are good people, then screw you.

Someone e-mailed the CoR site asking how they could become a member of our group. I'm including my response here just in case anyone else is interested.

Certainty

It is hypothetically possible that there is a three-inch-tall pink pony behind my sofa, which instantly teleports to Guam the moment I look. You can't prove with 100% certainty that it doesn't exist. Is that a good argument for the pink pony hypothesis? And if not, why is it a good argument for God or the supernatural?

From Wikipedia:

A well-known scientist (some say it was Bertrand Russell) once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the center of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy. At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: "What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise." The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, "What is the tortoise standing on?" "You're very clever, young man, very clever," said the old lady. "But it's turtles all the way down!"

This is based on the Cosmological Argument for the existence of God.

A Look From the Other Side

"Write this down: When the coming evangelical collapse happens, and especially when thousands of our young people bolt for non-believer status, a lot of it will be COMPLETELY DESERVED."  --Michael Spencer, Evangelical Baptist
